Frequently Asked Questions About GWO Training

What is the Global Wind Organisation (GWO)?

GWO is a non-profit association of leading companies in the wind energy industry with the aim of developing globally uniform safety and training standards. GWO certificates are internationally recognized and a prerequisite for working in wind energy.

What is WINDA and why do I need a WINDA ID?

WINDA is the central database for GWO training records. Your WINDA ID is a prerequisite for participation in GWO courses. We cannot issue certificates without a valid WINDA ID. Registration is done online at winda.globalwindsafety.org.

How long is my GWO certificate valid?

GWO Basic Safety Training certificates are valid for 2 years. After that, you must complete a refresher course to maintain your qualification. We will remind you in good time when certificates are expiring.

Can I book individual modules?

Yes, you can book GWO modules individually or as a complete package. For offshore work, all five Basic Safety Training modules are typically required: First Aid, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness, Working at Heights and Sea Survival.

What is included in the course price?

The price includes training materials, examination fees, GWO certificate, WINDA registration, lunch for full-day courses, and beverages. PPE is provided or can be brought yourself.

What are the prerequisites for GWO training?

You need a valid photo ID, a WINDA ID and should be physically fit. For water training you need swimwear. Language skills in German or English are required.

Do you offer group bookings?

Yes, we offer special rates for group bookings from 6 people. Contact us for an individual offer. We can also conduct training at your location.

Are there accommodation options?

Our Shipyard Guesthouse is located directly at the training center in Elsfleth. With 27 comfortable rooms, free Wi-Fi and digital check-in, it is ideal for course participants. Breakfast is available.
